“Sound Unbound” is a weekend festival (31st October and 1st November) at the Barbican that seeks to release classical music from its traditional confines. The performance in Milton Court by the LSC at 12:00 noon on Sunday, 1st November is a specially devised programme, led and conducted by Chorus Director, Simon Halsey. The programme explores the theme of collaboration between nations, especially the enduring friendship between the USA and the UK.

The full programme is: Copland “Simple Gifts”; Britten Folksongs “The Salley Gardens”, “Old Abram Brown”, “Oliver Cromwell”; Copland “Ching-a-Ring-Chaw”; David Lang “The National Anthems”, which UK premiere is accompanied by a String Quartet from the LSO.

Later in the afternoon, conducted again by Simon Halsey, the LSC will join forces with the BBC Symphony Chorus in the stalls of the Barbican Concert Hall at 2.15 pm for a massed voices singalong session at which they will give the premiere of a new work by Bob Chilcott, “The White Field” for double chorus and audience participation.
