This second performance of El Nino will be conducted by the composer himself, John Adams, which will be inspiring for all of us.   Described as a “nativity oratorio” with a libretto by the composer, retells the Christmas story, with the first half focusing on Mary’s thoughts before the birth in Bethlehem, and the second half following after the birth has taken place, Herod’s slaughter of the innocents and the early life of Jesus.

With a host of soloists and the London Symphony Orchestra, this pre-Christmas event should prove to be highly seasonal and stimulating.
