Beethoven’s “Missa Solemnis” is considered by many to be his finest achievement and along with Bach’s “Mass in B minor” one of the most significant mass settings. The particular challenges of the work mean that it is not often performed and it will be the culmination of the 2017-18 season for the London Symphony Chorus.
Michael Tilson Thomas (Vice-President of the LSC) conducts the LSO and an outstanding team of soloists: Joelle Harvey (soprano), Sasha Cooke (mezzo-soprano), Toby Spence (tenor) and Luca Pisaroni (bass-baritone).
Any performance of “Missa Solemnis” is a thrilling occasion, and the demands made on every element of the evening are great. We are confident that this performance will be one to be treasured and remembered a long time after the final notes have been played.
