With the release of the LSO Season 2018-2019, we are able to look forward to future projects that are already beginning to generate considerable excitement.
The season runs from September 2018 to August 2019, and in the early months the LSC will be in rehearsing for:
MacMillan “All the Hills and Vales Along” a new commission to be conducted by Gianandrea Noseda (Barbican: Sunday, 4th November)
Bartok “Cantata Profana” and Haydn “Nelson Mass” to be conducted by Francois-Xavier Roth (Barbican: Sunday, 11th November)
Bernstein “Candide” conducted by Marin Alsop (Barbican: Sunday, 9th December)
Szymanowski “Harnasie” conducted by Simon Rattle (Barbican: Thursday, 13th December)
After the Christmas break leading into 2019, further highlights include:
Mahler “Symphony No. 8” with the Netherlands Philharmonic conducted by Marc Albrecht (Concertgebouw: 23rd and 24th February)
Puccini “Messa d Gloria” conducted by Antonio Pappano (Barbican: Sunday, 3rd March)
David Lang “Public Domain” an LSO Sing Project conducted by Simon Halsey (Barbican: Sunday, 24th March)
Ives “Symphony No. 4” conducted by Mark Elder (Barbican: Sunday, 14th April)
Ives “Holidays Symphony” conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas (Barbican: Sunday, 2nd June)
Janacek “The Cunning Little Vixen” conducted by Simon Rattle with stage direction by Peter Sellars (Barbican: Saturday, 29th June). This performance to be repeated in Paris on Tuesday, 2nd July.
